MTC Statement on Digital Ad Tax Court Decision

The Maryland Tax Court’s decision to strike down the State’s digital ad tax is a victory for internet freedom and the small technology and life sciences businesses that rely on advertising to grow and thrive in Maryland. The surest way to create economic opportunity for Maryland residents and entrepreneurs is to make Maryland a cost-competitive and welcoming place to do business. While the State could appeal the decision to the circuit court, we are pleased that the tax court has seen fit to strike down this unconstitutional tax.
