Maryland Life Sciences “It’s Better Here” Campaign Wins 2021 BioBuzz Award

FREDERICK, MD (December 14, 2021) — Maryland Life Sciences, a division of the Maryland Tech Council actively engaged in building stronger life science companies, has won the 2021 BioBuzz Media Award for the “It’s Better Here” campaign. The BioBuzz Awards recognize the leaders and companies in the BioHealth Capital Region who are creating a stronger biotech community.

Maryland Life Sciences launched the “It’s Better Here” campaign in late 2020 to amplify to the world why Maryland–and the BioCapital region–is a booming life science hotbed. The campaign focused on four life sciences sectors: vaccine development, cell & gene therapy, biomanufacturing, and immunotherapy.

The It’s Better Here campaign featured the stories of some of the innovators advancing life sciences in Maryland, including Rooster Bio, Zalgen, Altimmune, Advanced Bioscience Laboratories, Inc., Noble Life Sciences, GSK, and more. Read their stories by visiting the Maryland Life Sciences It’s Better Here campaign page.

“The past two years have taught us how community truly makes it better here in Maryland and the BioCapital Region,” said Wendy Worm, Vice President of Marketing and Programs for the Maryland Tech Council. “The It’s Better Here campaign told the story of our life science community’s ability to expand the frontiers of human knowledge, even in the midst of a global pandemic. On behalf of our entire community, I thank BioBuzz for this recognition.”

According to BioBuzz, the BioBuzz Media Award honors a media campaign that most aligns with their mission; ‘to create exceptional experiences that better connect people and employers and foster a stronger regional ecosystem.’ It recognizes the media campaigns or platforms that successfully engaged, informed and connected people and reflected favorably on the BioHealth Capital Region.

Maryland and the BioCapital region are consistently ranked among the nation’s top life sciences clusters. Maryland alone features more than 500 biotech companies, more than 2,700 life science firms, more than 50 top universities, and thriving university research parks.
