PitchMasters™ hosts four emerging startups at January event; expands to Baltimore and New York
POTOMAC, Md. (Feb. 5, 2019) PitchMasters™, a workshop-style event for entrepreneurs preparing for their first institutional capital raise, held its 2019 Kick Off and Alumni Event on Jan. 30, 2019. Four emerging startup companies, Skipiit, Uplift, Trove Therapeutics and VERALOX Therapeutics, practiced their pitching skills and gained insights from experienced entrepreneurs, investors, industry influencers and fellow PitchMasters™ alumni.
PitchMasters™ formed as a partnership between Shulman Rogers NEXT and Newport Board Group, LLC, as both organizations recognize the vast, innovative talent in the DC region and throughout the East Coast. New in 2019, PitchMasters™ announced that the Maryland Tech Council has joined as a sponsor of the program and future events will expand to include Baltimore and New York locations.
“From building attention to securing funding, founders are faced with many high-stress situations when delivering their pitch. It’s exciting to have investors and serial entrepreneurs offering advice in an environment where companies can learn, grow and succeed,” said Anthony Millin, chair of Shulman Rogers NEXT.
Newport Board Group Partner Art Medici echoed similar sentiments. “Newport is delighted to partner with Shulman Rogers NEXT to advance the cause of rising entrepreneurs in the DMV,” he said.
Tien Wong, founder of the DC-based CONNECTpreneur event series, has been active with the event since its formation in 2017. He brings experience as an entrepreneur, investor and pitch showcase organizer.
“With so many innovative entrepreneurs looking for guidance and funding to fuel their ideas, PitchMasters™ is filling a very important need in our community.
