Medical manufacturing investments help to increase healthcare supply chain resiliency
Healthcare supply chain resiliency is on the rise in Maryland with the introduction of a new partnership between United Safety Technology, Inc. (UST) and Tradepoint Atlantic. Governor Larry Hogan recently announced the company’s plans for a new manufacturing facility located in Sparrows Point, aimed at producing critical medical supplies.
The project is expected to create thousands of new jobs for Maryland. UST, a leading manufacturer of high-quality medical protective equipment, is utilizing the 735,000 square foot warehouse space for a new manufacturing facility that will increase the production of medical-grade nitrile exam gloves. During the COVID-19 pandemic demand for disposable synthetic nitrile gloves surged, the company is expected to begin initial production in 2023.
“The focus of our administration has been to make Maryland open for business, to grow new businesses and jobs from one end of the state to the other, and a major national survey recently named Maryland the most improved state for business in America,” said Governor Hogan. “Today we are continuing to cement that pro-jobs, pro-business environment and ensuring that Maryland will continue to be a prime location for economic growth, manufacturing, and innovation. Thank you once again to the entire teams at UST and Tradepoint Atlantic, and congratulations to everyone involved in making this exciting announcement possible.”
